Caine tracks down Danny but doesn't get the kind of reception he expected from his brother. Soon thereafter a gunfighter arrives saying that this Danny Caine had been a very fast gunfighter with a different name just three years previously and he wants to see which one of them is faster.

"I may be pursuing an illusion." - Caine

"Beware, Shaolin, you, too, are not above illusion." - Seeress to Caine

"It is a Shaolin belief that the paternal line controls." - Master Kan

"I would be grateful." - Caine, when offered work

"I was a priest." - Caine, when asked what he did back in China

"Shaolin. That is a Buddhist sect." - Caine, explaining what he is

"It is honorable work: to be a farmer." - Caine

"'Had you good cause to risk this danger?' - Master Kan to Caine after the blindfolded, unarmed disciple had taken out three other disciples armed with swords
'My purpose was to prove my agility and my courage.' - Caine
'I had hoped such qualities were already yours.' - Master Kan
'I sought to test them.' - Caine
'For yourself or them [the young students who watched]? Is it not better to see yourself truly than care about how others see you?' - Master Kan
'Yes, Master. If I look truly, will I see truly?' - Caine (this flashback is also in "The Soldier")

"I am alive." - Caine, when told he could have gotten himself killed

"All men added together, do they not make up the world we live in?" - Caine

"The life of a farmer is good. Helping the earth to bring forth fruit." - Caine

"No one else will come." - Caine, seemingly predicting the future

Anderson's book^*2* indicates a serious misunderstanding of what happens in this episode perhaps because the story changed significantly after the script was finished.
